Our Goal

Sanctuary, Rehabilitation and Visitation

For Service Animals and Those Who Served With Them, it is our goal to provide a permanent Sanctuary and Rehabilitation Retreat.

SANCTUARY

In 2019, Texas voters reportedly approved Proposition 10, a measure that enables police officers to adopt law enforcement dogs and horses after the animals retire. Previous law dictated the animals had to be auctioned, donated, or destroyed. It passed by 94 percent.

But as we know, horses are not only expensive, but they require a lot of care and space. Most modern neighborhoods not only lack the space for livestock,

but most forbid even chickens!

This leaves service members and their beloved hooved friends in a precarious position. We hope to provide permanent Sanctuary for these animals and

accommodations for visitation year round.

REHABILITATION

Police and Military horses live the same length of time as other horses,

anywhere from 25 to 35 years.

Though there are exceptions, these horses usually work no more than 10 years, so depending on what age they began, they may have a lot of good years remaining.

This is where Rehabilitation comes in.

If a retiring officer so chooses, he/she may feel that their horse would be suited for Therapeutic uses (from special needs children to PTSD and others), training for a new career (such as riding lessons, search and rescue, farm and ranch use and more!)

and donate the horse to the facility to be adopted.

VISITATION

Our goal is to host fundraising events and retreats for veterans and officers whose service animals have been adopted at our sanctuary, providing them with a peaceful environment to spend precious time with their companions.
